THE LAST OF US Season 2 to Be Helmed by SUCCESSION, LOKI, PERRY MASON and WATCHMEN Directors
Season 1 of HBO’s The Last of Us was highly regarded by fans, and handsomely awarded in its first season, winning eight Primetime Emmy Awards, and getting nominated for three Golden Globes. The episodes were encapsulated in these beautifully told stories, and a lot of talent was involved both in front of the camera, and behind it. Season 2 will be no different, as a slate of talented new directors have signed on to helm the next season’s episodes.
The new lineup of directors includes Mark Mylod, who is just coming off his Emmy win for his direction of the HBO series Succession, as well as Nina Lopez-Corrado (Perry Mason), Stephen Williams (Watchmen) and Kate Herron (Loki). They join returning directors Peter Hoar, who was Emmy nominated for helming Season 1’s poignant Episode 3, “Long, Long Time,” as well as The Last Of Us co-creators, executive producers and showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, who will once again take on directing duties too. It is unclear whether any of the seven helmers will direct multiple episodes; Season 1 consisted of nine episodes helmed by seven directors.
The Last of Us Season 2 is slated to hit HBO in 2025.
