SUICIDE SQUAD Director David Ayer Set to Direct Jason Statham in THE BEEKEEPER
David Ayer (Suicide Squad, End of Watch, Fury) is set to direct Jason Statham in a new action movie titled The Beekeeper, which Miramax will be shopping at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival.
The movie is described as “a fast-paced action-thriller, which is steeped in the mythology of beekeeping,” and the story “follows a man’s personal journey of vengeance which takes on national stakes after he is revealed to be a former operative of a powerful and clandestine organization known as the ‘Beekeepers’.”
The hope for Miramax is to turn this concept into a full-fledged franchise. Producer Bill Block said in a statement, “Having collaborated with Jason on Wrath Of Man and Operation Fortune, and with David on Fury, we are fortunate to partner with these masters of the new action genre to bring Kurt’s brilliant script to the first installment of this franchise.”
Miramax acquired the spec script last year, which was written by Kurt Wimmer (Salt). I think Ayer and Stahatham teaming up for a film project is a freakin’ great idea and It’ll be cool to see how this thing turns out!
