Sundance Review: Peter Dinklage Survives in a Post-Apocalyptic World in I THINK WE'RE ALONE NOW
Peter Dinklage and Elle Fanning star in this fantastic post-apocalyptic drama I Think We're Alone Now. This isn’t your average post-apocalyptic film, though. There is a uniqueness to it that I thought made for a strong story and interesting characters.
The film centers on a man named Del (Dinklage) who believes that he is alone in the world. We don't know exactly why, but the human race has been wiped out of existence.
Del lives in a small town and he spends his days going from house to house, cleaning them out, collecting useful supplies and burying the dead. He lives at the library where he eats, sleeps, reads, watches movies, and shelves books that he collects from the homes.
His whole new existence in the world is shaken when a mysterious young woman named Grace (Fanning) comes driving through town. He isn't initially happy that he has a new visitor at first, but then decides to let her stay in the town with him and help him out.
The two characters end up forming a bond, but there are things about her that she doesn't know and this leads to a big surprising twist that will rock the world of Del.
Peter Dinklage and Elle Fanning both give wonderful performances in the film. It’s really great seeing these two actors play off of each other as they have great chemistry.
This movie tells a slow burning kind of story, which at its core is an interesting character study. The movie isn't going to be a huge blockbuster hit, but there's a certain charm to it that I think film buffs like myself will enjoy.
