SUPERGIRL Poster Art Sparks Confusion After Fans Spot a STAR WARS Character
DC Studios kicked off a major promotional push for Supergirl this week as tickets officially went on sale. Along with a final trailer, fans were treated to a collection of new posters and behind-the-scenes featurettes designed to build excitement for the next chapter of the DC Universe.
One of the newly released posters has quickly become the center of an unexpected online conversation.
The artwork, created by acclaimed Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic artist Bilquis Evely, showcases Kara Zor-El, Ruthye Marye Knoll, and several of the strange alien beings they'll encounter during their cosmic adventure.
It's a gorgeous piece packed with colorful sci-fi imagery, but eagle-eyed fans noticed something that immediately stood out.
One of the alien creatures featured in the background looks remarkably similar to Lexo Sooger, a little-known alien character who briefly appeared during the Canto Bight sequence in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
After side-by-side comparisons started circulating online, fans began pointing out just how close the designs appear. The resemblance is strong enough that many people have questioned whether it could really be a coincidence.
Adding to the speculation is the fact that a similar-looking creature is expected to appear in Supergirl. Because of that, some fans believe the artist may have accidentally referenced the wrong character while creating the poster artwork.
Others have gone a step further and accused Evely of using AI-generated references during the design process.
At this point, there's no official explanation for the similarity. Whether it's an innocent mistake, a case of overlapping creature design, or something else entirely remains unclear.
Given the amount of attention the image is receiving, it wouldn't be surprising if Evely or DC eventually addressed the situation.
The movie stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El and follows the heroine on a dangerous journey across space after she reluctantly teams up with Ruthye Marye Knoll in pursuit of vengeance.
The official synopsis reads: "When an unexpected and ruthless enemy threatens, Kara Zor-El is forced, against her will, to team up with an unlikely companion.
“Together, they embark on an epic cosmic journey where revenge and justice are at stake – and where Kara must confront her origins to find her own path as a hero.
Alcock is joined by Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham and Jason Momoa.
Whether the mysterious alien on the poster turns out to be a simple design mix-up or something more interesting, it has certainly given fans another reason to talk about Supergirl as the movie's release draws closer.
Supergirl flies into theaters on June 26, 2026.
