SUPERMAN Director James Gunn Reportedly Writing a DC Comics Series
James Gunn has got a lot of work on his plate with directing Superman and working on developing several other film and TV projects as the co-CEO of DC Studios.
Well, the filmmaker has reportedly carved out some time to write his first comic book series for DC Comics as well.
According to Bleeding Cool the Superman writer and director is planning to write his own comic for a 2025 release. The news comes out of Baltimore Comic-Con from "[a] senior comic book industry executives who should be in a position to know such things."
Neither Gunn nor DC Comics responded to the site when asked to comment. But, it’s speculated that the comic could be a Superman story written by Gunn with artwork by DC President, Publisher and CCO Jim Lee.
It would make sense for DC Comics to release a prequel or tie-in comic to the upcoming Superman movie starring David Corenswet, and I could see Gunn wanting to tell that story.
If this turns out to be true, it will be interesting to see what Gunn is planning. As of right now, none of this is confirmed.
