SUPERMAN Gets 13 Million Views in First 10 Days of Streaming Making the Film HBO Max's Biggest Movie Launch Since BARBIE

James Gunn’s DC blockbuster Superman has received 13 million views in its first 10 days of streaming on HBO Max, marking the platform’s biggest 10-day audience for a movie debut since Barbie kicked off streaming in 2023.

Starring David Corenswet as the title hero, the film hit HBO Max on September 19th. According to Warner Bros. Discovery, other titles involving the Superman character also saw spikes in viewership immediately before and after the movie began streaming.

During the week of Sept. 15-21, Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story saw a 670% increase in streaming compared to the week before. Superman: The Movie jumped by 155%, Superman Returns jumped by 120% and Man of Steel jumped 40% during the same window.

Along with Corenswet as Superman/Clark Kent, Superman stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, with other cast members including Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, María Gabriela de Faría, Wendell Pierce, Alan Tudyk, Pruitt Taylor Vince and Neva Howell. Gunn wrote and directed the film, and produced alongside side his co-head of DC Studios, Peter Safran.
