SUPERMAN Star Rachel Brosnahan Credits Great Set Experience to Director James Gunn's One Major Policy

The big summer blockbuster this year was surprisingly a DC flick, with director James Gunn’s take on one of the original and most beloved superheroes, Superman.

The film had a great story, beautiful cinematography and acting, and whole lot of heart, which one of the film’s stars says translated to behind-the-scenes as well.

The new book "Superman: The Art and Making of the Film" by author James Field details the making of the film Superman inception to release. In it, Rachel Brosnahan, who plays Lois Lane in the film, talked about the vibe on set as a newcomer to Gunn’s movie sets. She credited a policy of Gunn’s, which made the experience so great:

"A James Gunn set is infusing a movie with love and hope. He did a deep dive on all of us. He made it very clear that there was a 'zero a**hole' policy on his sets. And he brought together this group of people who are just excited to be here and happy to be here every day.

“And he loves these universes. He loves these characters, and that kind of energy comes from the top. It was a blast. We had so much fun. He has a crystal-clear vision for what he wants to do, but he's also really collaborative, and he made space for us to play and find things and work together."

This is probably part of the reason why so many of Gunn’s actors return to work with him. Aside from making great movies, he makes sure to minimize the toxicity some people can bring to a set, and that helps to foster an environment that people want to be a part of.

Superman is available to stream on HBO Max, and is available to rent and buy on several streaming and cable platforms.
