SUSPIRIA Director Dario Argento Will Direct a New Supernatural TV Series Called LONGINUS
Italian horror director Dario Argento, best known for helming Suspiria, is set to direct a TV series titled Longinus. This is said to be an ambitious project involving “mysterious murders, esoteric elements and ancient enigmas.” This sounds like the perfect kind of project for Argento, who hasn’t done anything since 2012.
The title of the series is a reference to the name given to the Roman soldier who pierced the side of the crucified Jesus with a lance to make sure that Jesus was dead. The series itself will be “suspended between the real and the supernatural” and will be set “between the French Alps of Grenoble and the Siena of the Palio.”
The series is being produced by BIM Productions, who goes on to say that Argento “will lead viewers inside his obscure and terrifying imagination.”
I’m a big fan of classic 70s Italian horror and Argento made some of the best cult classics and I hope he brings some of that tone and style to his upcoming Longinus TV series.
