Swamp Thing Animation Test for Joseph Kahn’s DARK UNIVERSE Film Pitch

Director Joseph Khan released an eight-second animation screen test of the DC character Swamp Thing for a pitch he was making to Warner Bros. for a Dark Universe movie, a.k.a. Justice League Dark. In regards to the test, Khan says:

"I pitched on Dark Universe before it became an animated movie. Here's an 8 second test of Swamp Thing I designed."

It looks like he may have tried to jump onto the film project after Guillermo del Toro jumped ship. Del Toro was working on it since 2013 but was unable to get it off the ground. The studio then opted to do it as an animated film, which is cool, but not as cool as a live-action film from Del Toro. That could have been awesome, and it’s a missed opportunity.

As for Khan’s vision, I have no idea what he would have done. The animation test of Swamp Thing is cool, but this is also the guy who directed the terrible film Torque. He’s also the guy who made that Unauthorized Power/Rangers short film, which was cool. I just don’t think Khan has what it takes to make a film like Justice League Dark. Check out the animation test and tell us what you think.
