SWAMP THING Casts Kevin Durand in The Villainous Role of The Floronic Man

We’ve got some more casting news for DC’s Swamp Thing series. It’s being reported that Kevin Durand (Lost, The Strain, X-Men Origins: Wolverine) is in talks to take on the role of the villain Jason Woodrue a.k.a. The Floronic Man.

Just in case you’re not familiar, Jason Woodrue was a botanist who was able to accelerate plant growth. Woodrue ends up gaining the ability to merge with and mentally control plant life after eating the 'organs' of the Swamp Thing.

The actor will join Will Patton (We Are The Titans, Halloween) as Avery Sunderland alongside Virginia Madsen (Sideways), who is playing his wife Maria Sunderland. The series also stars Andy Bean as Alec Holland, Derek Mears as Swamp Thing, Crystal Reed (Gotham) as Abby and Maria Sten (Straight Outta ComptonChannel Zero) as her friend Liz Tremayne.

Swamp Thing will follow "CDC researcher Abby Arcane, who returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus. She develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland, only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all."

James Wan is producing Swamp Thing for DC Universe under his Atomic Monster banner. The series will be written by Mark Verheiden and Gary DaubermanSwamp Thing is scheduled for release in 2019 on DC Universe and the pilot episode is being directed by Len Wiseman (Underworld).
