SWAMP THING to Premiere at the End of May
DC fans have patiently been waiting to watch the original show Swamp Thing for DC Universe, but up until now they haven’t known when the show would pop up. Well, during WonderCon, DC revealed that the Horror-tinted show will premiere on the streaming platform starting May 31, 2019.
“When CDC researcher Abby Arcane returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that theswamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all. The series stars Jennifer Beals, Andy Bean, Virginia Madsen, and more. The series is reportedly not tied to Titans or Doom Patrol.”
Many fans have been excited for Swamp Thing as James Wan is among the list of executive producers and there is a cult following of the titular character.
The series stars Will Patton (We Are The Titans, Halloween) as Avery Sunderland alongside Virginia Madsen (Sideways), who is playing his wife Maria Sunderland. The series also stars Andy Bean as Alec Holland, Derek Mears as Swamp Thing, Crystal Reed (Gotham) as Abby, Maria Sten (Straight Outta Compton, Channel Zero) as her friend Liz Tremayne, Kevin Durand (Lost, The Strain, X-Men Origins: Wolverine) as the villain Jason Woodrue, a.k.a. The Floronic Man, and Ian Ziering (Sharknado) as David Cassidy, a.k.a. Blue Devil.
Swamp Thing was written by Mark Verheiden (Daredevil, Battlestar Galactica) and Gary Dauberman (It). Swamp Thing is scheduled for release in 2019 on DC Universe.
