Sweet Trailer and Poster For High School Dramedy BUTTER

A trailer and poster have been released for the high school dramedy Butter, about a sweet young man who is facing his daily torment at high school with a plan he hopes will gain him some relief while he goes after the girl of his dreams.

The film stars Alex Kersting in the title role, and he's joined by Mira Sorvino, Mykelti Willliamson, Brian Van Holt, Ravi Patel, Annabeth Gish, McKayley Miller, and Jack Griffo. Butter is both written and directed by English filmmaker Paul A. Kaufman (Honeymoon with Mom). Here’s the film’s synopsis:

A lonely obese boy everyone calls "Butter" (Alex Kersting) is about to make history… He is going to eat himself to death – live on the internet – and everyone is invited to watch him. When he first makes the announcement online to his classmates, Butter expects pity, insults, and possibly sheer indifference. What he gets are morbid cheerleaders rallying around his deadly plan. Yet as their dark encouragement grows, it begins to feel a lot like popularity. And that feels good. But what happens when Butter reaches his suicide deadline? Can he live with the fallout if he doesn't go through with his plans?

This looks like a heart-wrenching story about a sweet kid who is going through a tough time as a teen. I hope it has a happy ending, as we all know things often get better after high school. Check out the trailer and poster for the film below, and watch Butter in select US theaters and on VOD on February 25th.
