SWORD ART ONLINE ALTERNATIVE: GUN GALE ONLINE Is Getting a Season 2

Sword Art Online is a fantastic anime series that you need to be watching if you aren’t already. The universe is so big that the story expanded with a spinoff series titled Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online. The first season of that show was released back in 2018, five years later it’s been announced that the spinoff is getting a Season 2, which is sure to get fans excited!

Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online follows the thrilling virtual reality adventures of Karen Kohiruimaki, a shy and introverted girl who escapes her real-life insecurities by immersing herself in the virtual world as her fearless alter ego, Llenn. In this game, players battle with firearms in a vast, post-apocalyptic landscape. Along the way, Llenn forms an unlikely bond with Pitohui, a seasoned player with a mysterious past. Together, they participate in the high-stakes Squad Jam tournament, a merciless battle royale where teams fight to the death. As the competition intensifies, Karen's courage and skills are put to the ultimate test, and she must confront both her own personal struggles and the dangerous secrets that lie within the game.

The official synopsis reads: “In the world of guns and steel that is Gun Gale Online, LLENN has been a devoted, female solo player. She is obsessed with two things: donning herself entirely in pink and honing her skills with consistent game play. She soon discovers her love for hunting other players (a.k.a. PK), soon to be known as the “Pink Devil.” Meanwhile, LLENN meets a beautiful yet mysterious player, Pitohui, and the two click right away. Doing as she is told by Pitohui, she enters the Squad Jam group battle.”

The whole Sword Art Online franchise features thrilling action, engaging character development, and explores some interesting and complex themes. I’m sure that fans will be happy to see Karen back in action!

The new season will bring back the creators and voice actors from the first season of the series. Tomori Kusunoki will return as Karan Kohiruimaki, aka Llenn. Studio 3HZ, who worked on season one, will also be coming back to develop the series. You can watch an announcement video below.
