SWORDS OF SORROW: RED SONJA & JUNGLE GIRL #1 Preview

It would be easy to dismiss this book as just another tie-in to Dynamite's current Swords of Sorrow event and not much else. After the small preview (which you can view below) however, my interest has fully been piqued. After all, I tend to love when Red Sonja is involved with, well, anything really, and while I come into this book without much knowledge of who Jungle Girl is, seeing Red Sonja interact with a world so unlike her own is bound to be interesting. On writing duties is Marguerite Bennett, with Mirka Andolfo on pencils. While the sample size is small, Bennett seems to have a nice handle on the character with a good dose of wit and humor added to the typical fantasy mix. The biggest standout, however, is Andolfo's pencils, which I can't say enough about. The story sounds fun, but the art is what sold me.

Catch the preview and the full story description below, and if you like what you see, you can buy the full issue at your local comic shop and digital outlets right now.

Red Sonja is plunged through the Rift to Jana the Jungle Girl’s tropical island, just as paradise is besieged by a terrifying monster that rains down ice and snow with killing cold. Jana, terrified for her homeland, is determined to destroy the source of the magic and return balance to her world – even if that means combating the She-Devil herself! An official tie-in to the epic Swords of Sorrow crossover event, written by celebrated writer Marguerite Bennett (Batgirl, Earth 2).
