Sydney Sweeney Rumored for Jedi Role in Upcoming STAR WARS Project

A new Star Wars rumor is making the rounds saying that Sydney Sweeney could be stepping into the franchise, and the claim suggests she’s being considered to play a Jedi.

The speculation kicked off on X when industry scooper MyTimeToShineHello recently posted: “Sydney Sweeney is being eyed by Lucasfilm to play a Jedi!”

The post racked up 59.9K views and sparked hundreds of replies from fans debating what kind of Force-wielder she could be. As of now, Lucasfilm hasn’t confirmed anything, but that hasn’t slowed down the conversation.

The timing of this rumor makes it especially interesting. Lucasfilm is deep in development on multiple theatrical Star Wars projects. There’s the long-awaited film centered on Rey, continuing her story after the sequel trilogy.

Dave Filoni is developing a New Republic-era film that’s expected to connect threads from the Disney+ series. And Simon Kinberg is working on an all-new trilogy. Any one of those projects could theoretically introduce a new Jedi character.

Before all that hits theaters, fans will return to the big screen with The Mandalorian & Grogu on May 22, 2026. That’ll be followed by Star Wars: Starfighter on May 28, 2027.

So far, there’s been zero official casting news tying Sweeney to any of these films, but with multiple stories in motion, there’s plenty of room for new faces to enter the saga.

Sweeney’s name being linked to Star Wars isn’t totally out of left field. She’s been steadily building her career, jumping between indie projects and major studio films.

Sweeney’s hard work and hustle has paid off, and it’s easy to imagine Lucasfilm wanting her to jump into Star Wars, even though I think Star Wars should stick to casting lesser known actors and put more focus on the stories they tell.

If this rumor turns out to be true, it’ll be interesting to see what kind of character she will play.

For now, this is firmly in rumor territory. But with Lucasfilm expanding its Star Wars theatrical slate and Sweeney continuing to rise in Hollywood, the idea doesn’t feel impossible.

And if she does ignite a lightsaber on screen, you can bet fans will have plenty to say about it.
