Sydney Sweeney to Star in Erotic Thriller Reimagining of Sleepy Hollow With HOLLOW From Lindsey Anderson Beer

Fans of gothic horror, supernatural mysteries, and fresh takes on classic stories have something intriguing to look forward to. Lindsey Anderson Beer is bringing her debut novel Hollow to life as a feature film, and she's already lined up Sydney Sweeney to lead the project in what sounds like a seductive and dark reinvention of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

The story offers a completely different perspective on one of literature's most recognizable tales. Rather than centering on Ichabod Crane or the Headless Horseman, Hollow shifts the spotlight to Katrina Van Tassel, the character who has traditionally been treated as the object of affection in previous versions of the story.

This new take places Katrina at the heart of the narrative, transforming her into the driving force behind a dangerous mystery wrapped in supernatural intrigue and romantic tension.

The novel is described as a reimagining of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” that blends gothic horror, psychological suspense, and erotic thriller elements into a contemporary story.

At the center is a seductive supernatural love triangle that sounds like it could add an entirely new dimension to Washington Irving's classic tale.

Sweeney is attached to play Katrina Van Tassel in the film adaptation, a role that feels perfectly suited to the actress as she continues to build a career that balances prestige projects with genre storytelling.

The project marks a major milestone for Beer, who has sold Hollow to Putnam, an imprint of Penguin Random House. The novel attracted immediate attention across the publishing world, with sources indicating that competition for the book heated up as soon as it was submitted.

Putnam ultimately secured the rights in a significant preemptive acquisition before the title could even make its way to auction.

Beer won't just be watching from the sidelines as the adaptation takes shape. She is set to both write the screenplay and direct the film adaptation herself. Production duties will be shared between LuckyChap, Beer’s Lab Brew banner, and Sweeney through her newly announced Honey Trap banner.

In fact, Hollow will serve as the very first official feature film project produced by Honey Trap following the company's launch.

The novel is also being fast-tracked for publication, with a planned Fall 2027 release that will coincide with development on the feature adaptation. Interest in both the book and movie has reportedly been strong from the start.

The manuscript quickly landed on studio book scout lists, and the film package has already generated significant attention even before industry readers have had extensive access to the material.

There have been plenty of adaptations of Sleepy Hollow over the years, but Hollow sounds like it could carve out its own identity by leaning into gothic romance, mystery, and supernatural suspense while finally putting Katrina Van Tassel front and center.
