SyFy Channel Developing BEOWULF Series

The SyFy Channel is set to develop a small screen adaptation of the Old English epic poem Beowulf. They've hired 1408 writer Matt Greenberg to adapt it. The series will further examine the hero's rise to power and his feud with the monster Grendel.
Beowulf is considered one of the most important works of Anglo-Saxon literature. Back in 2007, Robert Zemeckis made a motion capture film based on the character that seemed pretty good when it first came out, but hasn't stood the test of time.
I think there's a chance that this series could be pretty cool. You never know with SyFy though. Sometimes they deliver good series, sometimes they're awful. Hopefully this one will be good.
