Apparently SyFy Secretly Shot a New CRITTERS Movie with Dee Wallace

Last week the first trailer was released for a new sci-fi/horror comedy series called Critters: A New Binge, which is coming to Shudder. Now, we learning that the SyFy Channel secretly shot a new Critters movie based on director Stephen Herek’s 1986 cult film.

According to JoBlo, the project has already finished production. It was shot in South Africa and it was directed by Bobby Miller (The Cleanse). The best part of this is, the original film’s lead actress Dee Wallace (The Hills Have Eyes, E.T.) is also said to star in the film! She hinted at her involvement with the film in an interview with Bionic Buzz, which you can watch below.

There are no details about the new Critters movie, and there were a bunch of production photos posted on Instagram, but many of those photos have since been removed after word got out.

The original 1986 movie centered on a family who are forced to survive a bunch of crazy alien monsters that invade their farmhouse. At the same time, these “critters” were also on the run from an alien bounty hunter team. It’ll be interesting to see how this movie turns out! While we wait for this movie to be released, we’ve got that Critters: A New Binge series coming on March 21st and this is what it’s about:

Pursued by intergalactic bounty hunters, the Critters return to Earth on a secret mission and encounter lovelorn high-schooler Christopher (Joey Morgan, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse), his crush Dana (Stephi Chin-Salvo, iZOMBIE), his best friend Charlie (Bzhaun Rhoden, Van Helsing), and his mom Veronica (Kirsten Robek, The Edge of Seventeen), whose past will come back to bite them—literally. The series also features Gilbert Gottfried (Aladdin, Justice League Action) and Thomas Lennon (Reno 911!).

What do you think about this big Critters resurgence that is happening?!

Bionic Buzz® got to cover the red carpet of the 3rd annual KODAK Film Awards. The KODAK Film Awards recognizes talented motion picture artists who have created critically acclaimed motion picture art and whose unyielding efforts push the artistic process in filmmaking.
