Syfy Orders The Russo Bros. Series Adaptation of Image Comics' DEADLY CLASS
The Syfy Channel has greenlit the series adaption of Image Comics' Deadly Class, which is being produced by Avengers: Infinity War director Joe and Anthony Russo. If you're not familiar with the story, here's a description of the series that was provided:
The series is set in a dark, comic book world against the backdrop of late 1980s counter culture. It follows a homeless teen recruited into a storied elite private school where the world’s top crime families send their next generations. Maintaining his moral code while surviving a ruthless curriculum, vicious social cliques, and his own adolescent uncertainties soon proves to be vital.
They are obviously looking to tap into this nostalgic 80s radcore phase that was made popular by Stranger Things. It certainly sounds like it has potential to be a great series, especially with the Russo's involved.
The comic was created by Rick Remender and Wes Craig and it will be adapted Remender and Miles Orion Feldsott, who will serve as executive producers. Bill McGoldrick, president of scripted content for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment had this to say in a statement:
“We’re committed to developing graphic novels for Syfy and have found a rich, compelling, truly unique world in 'Deadly Class.' Our producing partners expertly combined high school angst, 80s nostalgia and comic flair into a beautifully realized, visually arresting pilot that truly brings Rick and Wes’ acclaimed comic series to life.”
The series will star Benedict Wong, Benjamin Wadsworth, Lana Condor, Maria Gabriela de Faria, Luke Tennie, Liam James, and Michel Duval.
Does this sound like a series that you'd be interested in watching? I'm curious to see how it turns out!
