Syfy's CIPHER Casts Lead Roles

Syfy has a new show coming up called Cipher and it has cast two of its leads now. Gabriel Bateman will play Asa who is 13 years old, a “video game junkie,” and the kid who ends up with top secret military tech inside his noggin.

Following the death of his mother, his life changes yet again when he becomes the unwitting recipient of the new technology. He and his father then find themselves at the center of the next great war — over artificial intelligence.

Meanwhile, Kyla-Drew Simmons will play the 16-year-old Annie who meets Asa inside a video game and doesn’t quite understand much about the outside world or human relationships.

I have to say, when I first read the premise for Cipher it reminded me a lot of my favorite TV show, Chuck. That alone has me a little excited for this show. Cipher is written by Allison Miller who is also executive producing alongside David Gordon Green, Jody Hill, Brandon James, and Danny McBride. The pilot will be directed by Peter Hoar.

Will you be checking out Cipher when it comes out?
