Sylvester Stallone Opens Up on Rambo's State of Mind in RAMBO: LAST BLOOD BTS Videos
Sylvester Stallone has shared three behind the scenes videos on Instagram in which he discusses Rambo’s state of mind in the upcoming film Rambo: Last Blood. As a longtime fan of the Rambo franchise, I love when Stallone offers this kind of insight on the iconic character.
In the videos, Stallone explains that even a man like Rambo, who was trained to be a killing machine, needs love in his life. After all, he is a human being:
“No man is an island. Even Rambo can’t be alone anymore. He really needs human contact. He needs love.”
“Rambo was a tool for a machine. He never recovered. He’s almost like the Frankenstein monster.”
“He wanders the world, this object of scorn, a reminder of a war no one wants to think about that he didn’t do on his own. He was asked to do it, so he has this guilt that I think a lot of Vietnam veterans should not have.”
When previously talking about the film’s story and what we can expect from it, Stallone said:
“Rambo deals with the dark side of nature that most people live with… In every film, Rambo never goes home, he goes out to the jungle or Afghanistan. In the new one, he does come home, but in a way, he never arrives. He’s there, but he’s not. That’s what the whole story is built around. As soon as he walks outside his door, he has no more control. The world controls you.”
The new Rambo is being directed by Adrian Grunberg and in the film Rambo is “deeply troubled and wrestling with PTSD as he picks up casual work wherever he can. When long-time family friend and estate manager Maria informs Rambo that her grand-daughter has gone missing after crossing into Mexico for a party, he sets off with her to find the youngster. What ensues is a violent descent into hell as Rambo uncovers a sex-trafficking ring. He teams up with a journalist whose half-sister has also been kidnapped and must deploy all his skills to save the girls and bring down a vicious crime lord.”
The movie also stars Matt Cirulnick, Adriana Barraza, Paz Vega, Yvette Monreal, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Oscar Jaenadam, and Joaquín Cosío.
Rambo: Last Blood opens September 20, 2019.
