Sylvester Stallone Shares Story of How He Almost Died Making ROCKY IV
Sylvester Stallone says he had a brush with death while he was making Rocky IV. Stallone wanted to make the boxing scenes look as real as possible so at one point Dolph Lundgren actually hit Stallone when the fight choreography went wrong. Lundgren hit Stallone so hard that the aftermath of it almost killed him!
Stallone shared the story the details in an interview with Daily Mail mail saying:
“In the first round, where he knocked me down, that is for real. He pulverized me and I did not feel it at that moment but later that night my heart started to swell. He had bruised the perio cardio sac, which is when the heart hits the chest – like in a car accident when your chest hits the steering wheel. My blood pressure went up to 260. They thought I was going to be talking to angels.”
Damn… that’s pretty hardcore, and it must’ve been pretty scary for Stallone. Luckily Stallone managed to recover and managed to complete the film. While he finished shooting the film he did not get final cut of it and that made him furious.
He explained, “I have zero ownership of Rocky. Every word, every syllable, every grammatical error was all my fault. It was shocking that it never came to be, but I was told, ‘Hey, you got paid, so what are you complaining about?’ I was furious.'“
So, all these years later, Stallone is finally releasing the director’s cut, his original vision of the film, and I can’t wait to see it!
