Taika Waititi is Developing an American TV Series Version of WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS
First of all, if you haven't seen director Taika Waititi's What We Do in the Shadows, you need to watch it as soon as possible! It's seriously one hell of a funny-ass film. Now we've learned that he's developing an American TV series version of What We Do in the Shadows! Taika Waititi revealed the news himself in an interview with Fandango, saying:
"We're trying to develop a U.S. version of What We Do in the Shadows. You know, set here in the states, but a T.V. show."
That could be a ton of fun! We've known for a while that he's slowly been developing a spin-off film called We're Wolves, as well as another spin-off involving the two police officers from What We Do in the Shadows. Those are both still in development, and apparently the cop spin-off is going to start production soon.
"We're also trying to start shooting in New Zealand. A spin-off following the two cops from the movie, as a sort of mockumentary X-Files [that takes place in] a certain small New Zealand town where they investigate paranormal activity."
In regards to the We're Wolves film, the filmmaker says:
"We're still trying to write that. We're doing those [other shows] as well as trying to come up with ideas for this werewolf movie. It will happen!"
I love this comedic supernatural world that Waititi is building with Jemaine Clement and I'm looking forward to seeing how these other projects that he's developing turn out! I know for a fact that they'll bring on the laughs!
