Taika Waititi Is Set to Write and Direct a Native American Limited Series for FX Called RESERVATION DOGS

Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok, Jojo Rabbit, What We Do In The Shadows) is set to write, executive produce, and direct at least the pilot episode a new limited series coming to FX called Reservation Dogs.

The series will follow four teenagers in “a Native American housing project in Oklahoma who commit petty crimes.” The series will also be written by Sterlin Harjo, who previously directed three films and a feature documentary, “all of them set in his home state of Oklahoma and concerned primarily with Native American people.”

Waititi had this to say in a statement on Twitter:

“Indigenous stories by indigenous film makers. Getting to create a story told through a native lens with my old friend @sterlinharjo makes this whole journey worthwhile. Mauri ora! #RezDogz.”

I’m a big fan of Waititi, his work, and the stories he tells. He’s a super talented guy, and I’ll be looking forward to seeing how this new project of his turn out. He is currently working on his next film Next Goal Wins for Fox Searchlight. He will then start work on Thor: Love and Thunder.

Filming on Reservation Dogs is currently eyed to begin in February in Oklahoma.
