Taika Waititi Plays an Imaginary Adolf Hitler in First Trailer for His Dark Comedy JOJO RABBIT

After making Thor: Ragnarok, director Taika Waititi went and made an interesting dark comedy called Jojo Rabbit. The film is described as a “satire that goes to war on hate.” Waititi also stars in the film… as an imaginary Adolf Hitler.

The story follows “an awkward young German boy (Roman Griffin) raised by a single mother (Scarlett Johansson), and whose only ally is his imaginary friend Hitler (Waititi). His naïve patriotism is tested when he meets a young girl (Thomasin McKenzie) who upends his world views, forcing him to face his biggest fear.”

I enjoyed this first trailer. It’s charming, awkward, funny, and bizarre in the most wonderful of ways. I can’t wait to see this movie! When previously talking about the film, Waititi said:

“I’m stoked to begin shooting my anti-war satire. We’ve assembled an incredible cast and I couldn’t be more excited to finally ridicule Nazis and their beliefs. This film is going to piss off a lot of racists and that makes me very happy.”

The movie also stars Sam Rockwell, Rebel Wilson, Stephen Merchant, Alfie Allen, and newcomer Roman Griffin. Jojo Rabbit opens in theaters on October 18, 2019. Watch the trailer and hit us up with your thoughts.
