Taika Waititi Says His WWII Film JOJO RABBIT Will "Piss Off a Lot of Racists"

Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok) has started production on his new film project Jojo Rabbit and as a fan of Waititi's film work, I'm really excited about it!

Jojo Rabbit is a World War II satire movie about "a young boy (Roman Griffin) who longs to be part of the Hitler Youth and whose imaginary friend is Adolf Hitler. He discovers a Jewish girl living in his attic, and after initially trying to find ways to get rid of her, begins to see her as human."

In the press release for the film, Waititi made a statement that I've never seen in a press release before! He says his movie is going to piss off a lot of racists and that's something that he takes pride in:

"I’m stoked to begin shooting my anti-war satire. We’ve assembled an incredible cast and I couldn’t be more excited to finally ridicule Nazis and their beliefs. This film is going to piss off a lot of racists and that makes me very happy."

The movie also features an amazing cast that includes Scarlett Johansson as Jojo’s mother, a woman who is secretly working for the resistance. Waititi is playing the imaginary Hitler, and Sam Rockwell will play a Nazi captain who runs a Hitler Youth camp. Rebel Wilson will play a character named Fraulein Rahm, who is a brutish instructor in the Hitler Youth Camp the young man has just been recruited to attend. The lesson that she teaches the children is that Jews are the embodiment of mythical creatures.

This is certainly a fascinating story that is sure to make for another great film from Waititi. It sounds like Waititi has some wild stuff in store for this movie!
