Take Over 18th Century Paris in Upcoming Game AMBITION: A MINUET IN POWER This Year
Am I crazy or have dating sims and visual novels seen a rise in popularity recently? I have nothing against this, I just find it interesting. If you’re into 18th century Paris, you’ll want to check out Ambition: A Minuet in Power coming to Steam this month and the Nintendo Switch later this summer. The game comes from Joy Manufacturing and has you play the role of Yvette who must forge new alliances to rise to the top. You’ll have events to plan for, characters to interact (and sometimes romance) with, and more as you influence the world around you.
18th century Paris is a city of love, lies, and revolution. You are Yvette - a woman of fashion left to fend for yourself in Ville De L’amour when your fiancé Armand disappears.
This is your opportunity to wine and dine with a cast of unforgettable characters. Amass the wealth and respect you deserve. Engage in gossip that can alter the course of history, or lead you to the guillotine.
I personally really like the art for Ambition and am genuinely excited to try it out. A demo is available on Steam now and you can check out both the most recent announcement trailer and the story trailer below.
Update: Ambition has been delayed with a hopeful release in August. Here’s the full statement regarding the change:
The reason for an initial delay is that our dear Camille found a few nasty bugs on her daily cleaning routine. We'll have to properly squash those before we release, because we want the experience to be as smooth as possible for everyone.
Of course, it won't actually take until August to fix these bugs, but we can't just release the second we're confident the game runs silky smooth. One major reason is that June and July are usually dominated by Triple A games and news, leaving little space for an indie visual novel to be noticed! Delaying until August also means the PC and Switch releases are closer together, which is nice for our Nintendo friends who want to avoid spoilers.
We sincerely apologize for the delay. We were as excited as you all were for the launch, but we'll hold on to the hype a little longer!
