Taron Egerton Reveals He Was in the Final Running to Play Han Solo in SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY
Taron Egerton is best known for his roles in the Kingsman movie series, as well as the biopic Rocket Man, in which he played the music icon Elton John. He is currently in the dark thriller Black Bird on Apple TV+, and he has a few other irons in the fire, namely the movie Tetris, which is supposed to come out later this year, as well as the remake of the musical Little Shop of Horrors, in which he will play Seymour.
He’s had a solid career so far, and has proven himself as a solid actor, but it turns out he almost played another iconic role.
During a new interview with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast (via CB), Egerton talked about his audition process in going out for Han Solo in the film Solo: A Star Wars Story:
"I'll be honest: I got on the Falcon. I was with Chewie. I was in the full costume ... And there was one more ... there was another round [of auditions] that I decided not to do. And it's far enough in the past now that I feel like I can say that. I hope no one feels annoyed that I have said it."
I actually think Alden Ehrenreich did a good job in the role, but the movie didn’t do so well in the box office, so maybe it was a good move for Egerton. Do you think he could have brought something different to the role that would have made you like it better? Let us know below.
