Taylor Swift Set to Make Her Directorial Debut with Searchlight Pictures Film Project
Singer, songwriter, and actress Taylor Swift is set to make her feature film directorial debut with a project that’s set up at Searchlight Pictures. She will direct from an original script that she also wrote.
There are no details on the story that the film will tell, but Searchlight President David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield said in a joint statement: “Taylor is a once-in-a-generation artist and storyteller. It is a genuine joy and privilege to collaborate with her as she embarks on this exciting and new creative journey.”
Swift has directed before, but not a feature film. She was recently nominated for two Best Direction awards for her work on All Too Well: The Short Film and The Man. She is the first artist ever to win three Video of the Year awards and only the second female to direct the winning video for Best Longform Video (All Too Well: The Short Film).
I’m curious to see what kind of story her first feature film will tell. You can’t deny that Swift is incredibly talented, and it’ll be interesting to see her utilize those talents in a feature film project.
