Team Four Star Restates DBZ ABRIDGED Ended with Episode 60
When I was a kid, I got sucked into anime with Toonami which introduced me to shows like Gundam Wing and Dragon Ball Z. Then, as an adult, I found out that some people on the internet would make funny videos for anime and say they’re an “abridged” version of the series. One of the most popular ones was created by Team Four Star called Dragon Ball Z Abridged. It brought a lot of joy to me and my friends as we relived some of the best DBZ moments but through a hysterical filter. After 60 episodes, the team finished the series up and through the Cell Saga and fans were promised that another season tackling the Buu Saga was in the works. Sadly, that’s not going to actually happen.
Scott Frerichs, co-founder of Team Four Star, took to Twitter recently and shared the news with fans that DBZA ended with Episode 60. This was a huge blow to fans (including myself), but back in November, the team had a Q&A where they talked about it a little and explained that the reason is that they wanted and even needed to change things up in how they approach it. They point to things like YouTube’s everchanging and inconsistent copyright policies, which is very fair.
Honestly, I just wish that they had made the announcement as a video outside of a Q&A, and I think many fans would agree. I understand the reasons why DBZA will not continue, but I’m upset that it was merely addressed in a Q&A that clearly many fans didn’t watch for one reason or another.
