Teaser For Robert Rodriguez and James Cameron's ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL
James Cameron has been developing a feature film adaptation of Alita: Battle Angel for years. He ended up handing off the directing duties to Robert Rodriguez, and after all the casting announcement things went quiet. After all these years of hearing about this movie, we finally have our first look in the form of a teaser. This is a very brief video that promotes a full trailer being released tomorrow.
The teaser offers us a couple close-up shots of the cyborg Alita looking herself over. It concludes with two scientists at the cyborg and then one of them says, “Well, look at you.”
The film is based on the manga created by Yukito Kishiro. The story is set in the 26th century, Battle Angel tells the story of Alita, "an amnesiac female cyborg who is rescued from a scrapyard by a doctor. The rebuilt Alita, remembering only her training in a deadly martial art, becomes a hunter-warrior, tracking down and eliminating vicious criminals. Within the context of an epic action-adventure, the film will explore a young woman’s journey of self-discovery and finding love."
The cast for the film includes Rosa Salazar, Jennifer Connelly, Jackie Earle Haley, Christoph Waltz, Ed Skrein, Mahershala Ali, Michelle Rodriguez, and Keean Johnson.
The film is currently in post-production and will be released in theaters on July 20, 2018. Stay tuned for the full trailer!
