Teaser Trailer and Photos From Netflix's THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE
The classic 1959 horror novel The Haunting at Hill House is getting a series adaptation from director Mike Flanagan (Ouija: Origin of Evil, Gerald’s Game) for Netflix. The Shirley Jackson-written novel is seriously the gold standard for haunted house ghost stories and I'm actually pretty excited about how this series is going to turn out! Here's the description of the book for those of you not familiar:
The story of four seekers who arrive at a notoriously unfriendly pile called Hill House: Dr. Montague, an occult scholar looking for solid evidence of a “haunting”; Theodora, his lighthearted assistant; Eleanor, a friendless, fragile young woman well acquainted with poltergeists; and Luke, the future heir of Hill House. At first, their stay seems destined to be merely a spooky encounter with inexplicable phenomena. But Hill House is gathering its powers—and soon it will choose one of them to make its own.
This novel has already been adapted into films a couple times before with 1963 film The Haunting and the 1999 remake. This new series will take a different turn and will focus on a family instead of strangers. That should definitely make things a little more interesting.
The story for the series follows "a family both in modern day and in the past as they deal with the ghosts, both literal and figurative, that have come to haunt them." I really hope that the series captures the psychological horror of the book.
Today we've got a teaser trailer to share with you along with a collection of photos for you to check out. They include the cast of the series which includes Carla Gugino, Timothy Hutton, Elizabeth Reaser, Michiel Huisman and Henry Thomas.
The Haunting of Hill House will debut on Netflix on October 12th. Are you looking forward to this series?
