Teaser Trailer for Dark Drama MAY DECEMBER Starring Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore
A teaser trailer has been released for the dark drama May December, starring Academy Award-winning actresses Natalie Portman (Garden State, Jackie) and Julianne Moore (Crazy Stupid Love, Still Alice), as well as Charles Melton, Piper Curda, Elizabeth Yu, Gabriel Chung, Cory Michael Smith, D.W. Moffett, and Lawrence Arancio.
The film is directed by Todd Haynes (Far From Heaven, I’m Not There, Carol), from a script written by Samy Burch and Alex Mechanik.
This looks very much like a spin on the late ‘90s crime of sixth grade teacher Mary Kay Letourneau, who went to prison for rape for having a sexual relationship with one of her students, who she ended up marrying and having children with after she served her sentence. It’s not this story exactly, but it feels very similar.
In the film, “Twenty years after their notorious tabloid romance gripped the nation, a married couple buckles under the pressure when an actress arrives to do research for a film about their past.” Moore plays the much older woman in the story, Gracie Atherton-Yoo, and Portman plays an actress, Elizabeth Berry, who is going to portray her in a film about her life.
This looks like it’s going to be an interesting movie! Check out the trailer below, and watch May December in select theaters this November, and on Netflix on December 1st.
