Teaser Trailer for David Fincher and Michael Fassbender's Assassin Thriller THE KILLER
Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for David Fincher’s highly-anticipated next film project, The Killer, which stars Michael Fassbender. This is Fincher's second film with Netflix after Manx, and this one leans into the dark crime story style of the filmmaker. This is a perfect film project for the director to take on, and I have no doubt that Fassbender is going to be great in it. I’m a big fan of Fincher’s work and this movie is gonna be good!
The story for the movie is an adaptation of Alexis Nolent’s graphic novel series, and the synopsis reads: “After a fateful near miss, an assassin battles his employers, and himself, on an international manhunt he insists isn’t personal.”
The description for the book reads: “A man solitary and cold, methodical and unencumbered by scruples or regrets, the killer waits in the shadows, watching for his next target. And yet the longer he waits, the more he thinks he's losing his mind, if not his cool. A brutal, bloody and stylish noir story of a professional assassin lost in a world without a moral compass, this is a case study of a man alone, armed to the teeth and slowly losing his mind.”
Venice Film Festival Chief Alberto Barbera, who has already watched the film shared a positive reaction to it, saying: “It’s based on a French graphic novel, and the film is very violent. It’s breathtaking from beginning to the end. Michael Fassbender is fantastic.” He also said he’d be surprised if the movie didn’t end up in the Oscar race.
The Killer has been in the works for almost three years, and Fincher re-teamed with Se7en screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker to write the script. The movie also stars Tilda Swinton, Arliss Howard, Charles Parnell and more.
This movie is finally set to premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September with a Netflix release later this year on November 10, 2023.
