Teaser Trailer For EPIX's BILLY THE KID Western Series From The Creator of VIKINGS

EPIX has released a teaser trailer for its upcoming original western series Billy The Kid. I’ve been excited about watching this show for a few reasons. One reason is because I’m fascinated by the story of Billy The Kid, another reason is because the show was created by the same guy who brought us Vikings, Michael Hirst. The guy is a great storyteller and I’m curious to see how he handles the story of Billy The Kid.

The teaser trailer doesn’t offer a ton of footage, it basically just introduced us the the main character as he walks into a bar. It features a voiceover of an older man, which I assume is Billy the Kid's father, talking about never pointing at a man unless you intend to kill him. The trailer is also cut to the Johnny Cash song "God's Gonna Cut Him Down”.

The series will consist of eight one-hour-long episodes and this is the synopsis:

An epic romantic adventure based on the life of famous American outlaw Billy the Kid (Blyth), also known as William H. Bonney — from his humble Irish roots, to his early days as a cowboy and gunslinger in the American frontier, to his pivotal role in the Lincoln County War and beyond. Webber will play Jesse Evans, another famous outlaw and leader of the Seven Rivers Gang. When they meet, Jesse has already embraced a life of crime: robbing stores and cattle rustling. Billy is attracted to his wild and reckless character and becomes Billy’s doppelganger of sorts — his shadow self, forever inviting him over to the dark side of life.

Tom Blyth (Robin Hood, Benediction) stars in the role of Billy The Kid and the show is set to premiere on EPIX sometime in 2022.
