Teaser Trailer for HBO Docuseries THE VOW Chronicles the Inner Workings of the NXIVM Cult
HBO has released the first teaser trailer for their upcoming docuseries The Vow, which details the inner workings of the infamous cult, NXIVM, which has made headlines for its charges of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. The group gained fame with the involvement of Smallville star Allison Mack, who recently pleaded guilty to racketeering charges of sex trafficking, sex trafficking conspiracy and forced labor conspiracy in the case against the group and its founder, Keith Raniere.
The project is being helmed by Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated directors Jehane Noujaim and Karim Amer (The Square, Control Room, Startup.com). The series “will follow a range of people who joined the group. NXIVM has been under siege, with serious federal charges brought against its highest members including founder Keith Raniere. The program will take a deep, nuanced look at experiences of its members, spotlighting their universal desire for personal growth,” HBO said.
Director Noujaim has had interest in working on a project related to the group since 2010 when she took NXIVM’s introductory “Executive Success Program” workshop. So it’s definitely a personal project, and she will bring a unique perspective to the series. I have been following the news that has come out over the years about this group in various podcasts and articles, so I am definitely interested to see what new information will be brought to light.
The Vow docuseries is set to begin on HBO and HBO Max on August 23rd. Check out the trailer below.
