Cool Teaser Trailer for Hideo Kojima’s DEATH STRANDING: MOSQUITO Anime

The world of Death Stranding is expanding once again, this time into anime. During Kojima Productions’ 10th anniversary event, Beyond the Strand, fans got their very first look at the upcoming project, which is titled Death Stranding: Mosquito. As you might expect from Hideo Kojima, it looks haunting, strange, and awesomely intriguing.

The teaser trailer featured two short clips. The first showed a mysterious man with a tentacle-like growth attached to his face, floating underwater before swimming toward a human-shaped figure.

The second clip brings him onto land, caught in the Timefall, and he ends up getting into a brtual fight with another character, and the fight sequence is pretty awesome!

After the footage screened, Kojima and anime director Hiroshi Miyamoto briefly touched on the project. They explained the strange working title Mosquito comes from the protagonist’s bizarre ability: “sucking something through his slimy apparatus,” though not blood, as one might expect.

Another cool reveal is that the anime’s animation will be traditionally hand-drawn before being digitally assembled. To top it off, Aaron Guzikowski (Raised by Wolves) wrote the scenario script.

This anime isn’t the only Death Stranding adaptation in development. Kojima also confirmed during the event that he won’t be heavily involved in A24’s live-action Death Stranding film. That project is being led by writer-director Michael Sarnoski, who said: “We really want to capture the soul of the game.”

No release date has been announced for Death Stranding: Mosquito yet, but with Kojima involved and such a bizarre, hand-crafted vision on the way, fans are going to want to keep an eye on this one.
