Teaser Trailer for Netflix Series FOREVER Based on the Classic Coming of Age Romance Novel By Judy Blume

Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming series Forever, based on the classic coming of age romance novel by the one and only Judy Blume.

The series stars young actors Michael Cooper Jr. and Lovie Simone, as well as Xosha Roquemore, Marvin Lawrence Winans III, Wood Harris, Karen Pittman, Barry Shabaka Henley, Ali Gallo, Niles Fitch, Paigion Walker and E’myri Crutchfield.

The show is a “reimagining of Judy Blume’s influential — and controversial — 1975 novel Forever… for a new generation, the series adaptation tells the epic love story of two Black teens, Keisha Clark (Simone) and Justin Edwards (Cooper Jr.) exploring romance and their identities through the awkward journey of being each other’s firsts, set in Los Angeles, 2018.”

Brock Akil, who serves as showrunner, executive produces alongside Blume, Susie Fitzgerald, Erika Harrison, Sara White, Regina King, Reina King, Shana Waterman and Anthony Hemingway, who is directing four episodes. The project stems from Brock Akil’s overall deal at Netflix.

This was another book by Blume that crossed generations, like Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret, and Deenie, and it taught several generations about first relationships, sex, consent and contraceptives, and it has remained an often banned, but also beloved book.

It’s cool to see it turned into a series so that another era of teens are introduced to the novel.

Check out the trailer below, and watch Forever when it hits Netflix soon.
