Teaser Trailer for Park Chan-wook’s Dark Comedy NO OTHER CHOICE

Neon has released the first teaser for Park Chan-wook’s highly anticipated dark comedy No Other Choice, marking his return to feature films after Decision to Leave in 2022.

Based on Donald Westlake’s 1997 novel The Ax, the story follows Man-soo, played by Lee Byung-hun, a man who’s been out of work for years and becomes desperate enough to hatch a chilling plan to eliminate his rivals to land a job.

The teaser promises a stylish, unsettling tone with hints of Park’s trademark mix of sharp wit and unnerving suspense. The film also stars Son Ye-jin, Yeom Hye-ran, Park Hee-soon, Yoo Yeon-seok, and Cha Seung-won.

The story follows “a man named Man-soo is abruptly laid off by the paper company where he worked tirelessly for many years. He grows increasingly desperate in his hunt for new work, and eventually he comes to a certain decision about how to handle the competition in the community.” This chilling premise already feels like classic Park territory—dark, twisted, and deeply human.”

No Other Choice is directed and co-written by Park, alongside Lee Kyoung-mi, Jahye Lee, and Don McKellar. With a legacy of acclaimed films like Oldboy, The Handmaiden, and Thirst, expectations are high.

The film will premiere at the 2025 Venice Film Festival before hitting other major festivals later this year, with Neon planning a theatrical release sometime in late 2025.

Judging from the teaser and the beautifully crafted poster, Park isn’t just back—he’s ready to deliver another sharp, gripping masterpiece.
