Teaser Trailer For Robert Downey Jr.'s HBO Series PERRY MASON Starring Matthew Rhys
Robert Downey Jr. has shared the first teaser trailer for his upcoming HBO limited series Perry Mason. The teaser gives us our first look at Matthew Rhys (The Americans) in the title role.
“The story will be set in 1932 Los Angeles. While the rest of the country recovers from the Great Depression, this city is booming! Oil! Olympic Games! Talking Pictures! Evangelical Fervor! And a child kidnapping gone very, very wrong! Based on characters created by Erle Stanley Gardner, this limited series follows the origins of American Fiction’s most legendary criminal defense lawyer, Perry Mason (Rhys). When the case of the decade breaks down his door, Mason’s relentless pursuit of the truth reveals a fractured city and just maybe, a pathway to redemption for himself.”
While the teaser doesn’t show much, this is a show that I’m looking forward to checking out. Downey Jr. developed the series with his wife Susan Downey. It was co-written by Rolin Jones and Ron Fritzgerald, who are also set as the series’ showrunners. Tim Van Patten directs the series and he has worked on many popular HBO series such as Game of Thrones, The Sopranos, Sex and the City, and Deadwood.
The series also stars John Lithgow (Pet Sematary, Terms of Endearment, The Crown), Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black), Chris Chalk (Gotham) and Shea Whigham (Homecoming), Nate Corddry (Mom), Veronica Falcon (Queen of the South), Jefferson Mays (I Am The Night), Gayle Rankin (GLOW) and Lili Taylor (Chambers).
Watch the teaser trailer and let us know if this is a show you’re interested in watching.
