Teaser Trailer for Sir Ian McKellen's MR. HOLMES
There's a lot of interest out there in Sir Ian McKellen's upcoming new film Mr. Holmes, in which he plays an older Sherlock Holmes. We've seen a few photos of him in the role of the past few months, and even a brief clip. But now we have our first trailer, and I'm even more intrigued. It really looks like it has the makings of a great film.
The movie comes from Miramax and Roadside Attractions, and it was directed by Bill Condon. It also stars Laura Linney (Kinsey, You Can Count on Me). The film is based on the novel A Slight Trick of the Mind by Mitch Cullin.
The story is set in 1947 "when an aging Holmes returns from Japan, where, in search of a plant with powerful restorative qualities, he has witnessed the devastation of nuclear warfare. Now in his remote seaside farmhouse Holmes faces the end of his days tending to his bees with only the company of his housekeeper (Linney) and her young son, Roger. Grappling with the diminishing powers of his mind, Holmes comes to rely upon the boy as he revisits an unsolved case which forced him into retirement, and searches for answers to the mysteries of life and love before it’s too late."
No U.S. release date has been announced yet, but it is expected to be released in theaters this summer. It opens in the UK on June 19th.
