Teaser Trailer for THE ARTFUL DODGER, an Irreverent Follow-Up to Charles Dickens' OLIVER TWIST
Hulu has released the first trailer for its original series The Artful Dodger, which is an irreverent follow-up to Charles Dickens’ classic tale Oliver Twist.
The series is set in 1850s Australia, and it explores the adult double life of Jack Dawkins, aka The Artful Dodger. He’s now using his longtime skills as a pickpocket to be a surgeon. Thomas Brodie-Sangster (The Queens Gambit) stars in the series and he’s joined by David Thewlis and Maia Mitchell.
Dodger’s past returns to haunt him with the arrival of Fagin, “who wants to lure him back into a world of crime. And an even greater threat — to Dodger’s heart — is Lady Belle, the Governor’s daughter, who is determined to become the colony’s first female surgeon.”
The eight-episode series is described as “a tale of reinvention, betrayal, redemption, and love with a twist.” The series was created by James McNamara, David Maher and David Taylor. It also stars Damon Herriman, Miranda Tapsell and Tim Minchin.
The Artful Dodger looks like a fun show and it will premiere on November 29th on Hulu in the U.S. and on Disney+ in Australia.
