Teaser Trailer For The Indie Horror OBSESSION Arrives and Things Get Sinister Fast

Here’s a teaser trailer for a new indie horror film titled Obsession, and it wastes no time setting up a chilling, be careful what you wish for scenario.

This is Curry Barker’s second feature film and it has already made a strong impression on the festival circuit, pulling in awards and enthusiastic reactions. Focus Features has now given audiences a taste of what’s coming, and it looks tense, weird, and promising.

Obsession centers on a hopeless romantic who snaps a mysterious One Wish Willow stick in hopes of winning the heart of his crush. At first it seems like the universe answers him, but the teaser quickly suggests something much darker waiting beneath the surface.

Barker plays heavily with shifting tones. What begins as an awkward love story slowly mutates into something eerie and unnerving.

The film stars Michael Johnston, Inde Navarrette, Cooper Tomlinson, and Megan Lawless.

In the film, “A young man's desperate romantic longing for his lifelong platonic love triggers a very sinister spell: Nikki (Inde Navarrette) will become so irrationally obsessed that she ends up turning into Bear's (Michael Johnston) shadow.

That gives you an idea of the psychological direction Barker is pushing into here. Obsession appears to be one of those horror films that starts off as one genre before slowly revealing entirely different layers.

The movie’s mix of supernatural dread and emotional turmoil seems to have hit the right nerve with viewers who enjoy character driven genre stories.

Focus Features will release Obsession in select US theaters on May 15, 2026.
