Teaser Trailer for DEATHWOODS Promises a Blood-Soaked Return to Classic Slasher Horror

If you’ve been itching for a horror film that brings back the grime, gore, and guts of the '80s slasher heyday, Deathwoods might be your next obsession. A teaser trailer has dropped for the upcoming throwback slasher, and while we don’t have a release date yet, this bloody little preview gives us a brutal taste of what’s to come.

The story centers on Scott, a heartbroken guy just trying to forget his ex. His friends Kyle and Jessica plan a relaxing camping weekend in Old Hickory, Tennessee to cheer him up, and maybe play matchmaker with Jessica’s friend, Michelle. But romance quickly takes a backseat when the group runs afoul of a gruesome local legend.

“Twenty years ago, the Wallace Family lived deep in the woods surrounding the small town of Old Hickory, Tennessee. After a terrible murder/suicide fell upon the family, rumors circulated around town, and quickly turned into ghost stories about a grotesque, mutated kid, that now haunts those very woods.”

“Now in present day, Scott’s friends, Kyle and Jessica, plan a weekend camping trip with the intention of breaking Scott out of his post breakup depression by setting him up with Jessica’s friend, Michelle. Their plan to bring Scott and Michelle together, quickly turns into them being torn apart by the urban legend that haunts the very woods they’re camping in.”

Produced by Dark Dreams Productions, Simpatico Pictures, and Good Spirits Films, Deathwoods wears its grindhouse influences on its blood-soaked sleeve.

According to the filmmakers, “In the vein of the great films that came before it like The Burning, Madman, and Pieces, Deathwoods promises nothing less than extreme bloodshed and mayhem.”

As you see, the teaser oozes with grainy visuals, campfire vibes, and a lumbering masked killer straight out of VHS hell.

The film is the brainchild of writer and executive producer Scott Conner, with co-directors Jake Kopronica (Purgatory Station, The House Among the Trees) and Deryk Wehrley (Crust, Watchdog). Kopronica also co-wrote, produced, and stars in the film, while Wehrley doubling as special effects makeup artist.

The cast includes Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp, Terrifier 2) and LC Holt (You’re Next, VHS 2) alongside KateLynn E. Newberry, Jessa Jupiter Flux, Celeste Blandon, and Ice Nine Kills guitarist Miles Dimitri Baker in his film debut.

Deathwoods looks like a full-blown, blood-splattered sprint into the woods of horror glory.
