TED LASSO Star Cristo Fernández Talks About His Hopes For Future Ted Lasso Spin-Offs

Ted Lasso season 3 just finished up, and the future of the series is very ambiguous at the moment. The show’s creators have said since the beginning that they wrote the series in a three-season arc, which is now completed, but they have also said there is plenty of story left to tell if the studio wants to move forward with a spin-off or two.

Series star Cristo Fernández recently sat down with ComicBook at the Transformers: Rise of the Beasts premiere to chat about his hopes for the future of Ted Lasso. He said:

"I think there's potential to so many stories. It's the end for now, as you said. I just hope there's more too."

Some of those potential stories could focus on Keeley Jones (June Temple) pitching an AFC Richmond women's team to club owner Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham), or following the original team under the direction of Roy Kent. We could even follow Ted Lasso back home and see what he’s up to back in the states! Fernández went on to share his ideas, saying:

"I hope there's a spin for the woman's team. I hope there has spin for Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein). I hope there's spin for Rebecca, for Dani. There's potential to do many things, but for now I'm just grateful to have been part of it and forever grateful with Jason, Brendan, Joe [Kelly], Bill [Lawrence], the writers for giving me the opportunity."

His future on the AFC Richmond pitch may be uncertain, but Fernández is staying busy in Hollywood. He had a small role in 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home, he is currently in production on Disney+'s remake of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, and he just lent his voice to Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.

Fernández emphasized that he is grateful to be part of these big franchises but added that he hopes he will soon have the opportunity to tell his own stories.

"I hope Transformers, Ted Lasso allows me to tell more stories also, the ones that I'm trying to create. And thanks to everyone else supporting and cheering."

Hopefully we will see Dani Rojas again. He is such a fun character. But I would be happy with any show set in the world of Ted Lasso.
