TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES is Getting a New Four Player Arcade Game!
When I was growing up one of my favorite games to play at the arcade with my friends was the classic Konami 1989 four-player Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game! That and The Simpson's game were the two games where we could all play together and I remember pumping in quarter after quarter to keep the entertainment going!
For those of you who also have fond memories of playing this game, you might be excited to learn that arcade cabinet maker Raw Thrills is currently developing a new TMNT arcade game! Only this time, it will be based on the current Nickelodeon cartoon. Regardless of that, it's still pretty cool that they are tapping into the nostalgia of those of us who enjoyed playing the original game when we were kids.
Raw Thrills offered some details to Arcade Heores on what makes this new version of the game different than the original:
“This new version of TMNTis a completely new re-imagining of the brawler concept. There are more moves, more environmental interaction, cool Turtle Power special attacks, voiceover from the entire cast (including Seth Green and others)… it’s really amazing.”
The new cabinets will feature HD screens and measure about nine feet tall and four and a half feet wide! This is definitely something to look forward to, if you can find an arcade to play it in. There will be a demo of the game at this year’s International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions expo in November.
I'm sure it will eventually pop up in entertainment venues like Dave & Busters and Game Works. I can't wait to give it a go!
