TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: MUTANT MAYHEM Director Wants To Introduce Krang in Sequel

I’m pretty stoked about watching the upcoming movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem! I’ve seen quite a bit of footage from the movie already, and it looks like a radical fun flick! It’s just such a unique way to tell the story of these beloved characters and I hope that the movie ends up being a success at the box office because it’s be cool if the franchise continued.

If the film does end up sparking a sequel, director Jeff Rowe wants to introduce the classic villainous alien character Krang! During a recent interview with CB, the filmmaker was asked what character he would like to play with in the next chapter of the story and he said:

"Krang. Krang is so interesting to me. The Arnie suit. I'm like, we gotta do something with Krang."

He didn’t go into any details on how he would incorporate the character into the story, but it would be awesome to see the character incorporated into this reimagining of the franchise. I can only imagine how wild the character design and style would be!

Krang is a notorious character from the franchise and is an alien warlord from Dimension X and is unique due to his form, which is that of a giant brain. Once a feared conqueror in his home dimension, Krang was stripped of his body and banished to Earth, where he allied himself with Shredder and constructed a powerful humanoid exo-suit to house his brain form. Known for his high intellect and less-than-pleasant personality, Krang is consistently working on plans to conquer Earth, often leading to battles with the Ninja Turtles.

Rowe also previously teased Shredder’s future involvement saying: "We'll Dark Knight it.” He went on to say that he'd 100% love to develop a sequel and shared: "When you've grown and you've become confident as a teenager, to then go up against a foe that is three times scarier than anything you've ever seen before, that's interesting and dramatic."

In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, after years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts. Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them.

When previously talking about the tone of the film, director Jeff Rowe revealed the vibe they were going for:. “We wanted it to be like Stand By Me and Lady Bird. But, you know, with Ninja Turtles.”

The voice cast of the film includes Micah Abbey as Donatello, Shamon Brown Jr. as Michelangelo, Nicolas Cantu as Leonardo, Brady Noon as Raphael, Jackie Chan as Splinter, John Cena as Rocksteady, Seth Rogen as Bebop, Ice Cube as Superfly, Rose Byrne as Leatherhead, Natasia Demetriou as Wingnut, Ayo Edebiri as April O’Neil, Giancarlo Esposito as Baxter Stockman, Post Malone as Ray Fillet, Paul Rudd as Mondo Gecko, and Maya Rudolph as Cynthia Utrom.

The Seth Rogen-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem hits theaters on August 4th.
