TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: MUTANT MAYHEM Sequel and TV Series in the Works

Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies have announced that they are already developing a sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, and they’re also developing a two-season series that will serve as a bridge between the films.

The spinoff series will be titled Tales of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and it will debut on Paramount+. According to the description, “the Turtles will be challenged like never before as Leo, Raph, Donnie and Mikey each go it alone for the first time. Faced with new threats and teaming up with old allies, the Turtles will discover who they really are when they don’t have their brothers at their sides.”

There’s no information shared on the story for the sequel, but director Jeff Rowe has teased that he wants to introduce the villains Shredder and Krang.

The studio is obviously feeling very confident about this first film, which has yet to be released. The creative team has done something very cool and unique with this latest reimagining and I think fans of the franchise and audiences are going to love it.

Paramount and Nickelodeon chief Brian Robbins said in a statement: “In the nearly 40 years since Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles launched into the zeitgeist, it has entertained generations of fans and only continues to grow. We are excited to grow TMNT’s legacy in partnership with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg at Point Grey, and Jeff Rowe, who are innovating the franchise with their singular brand of humor and elevated storytelling for audiences everywhere, across virtually every platform.”

Ramsey Naito, president of Paramount Animation & Nickelodeon Animation added: “Reinvigorating this franchise has been years in the making, and we are thrilled to continue expanding the beloved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles universe and bringing new adventures to families and fans.”

I’m actually excited about the future of this franchise! One day I hope it leads to an adaptation of the incredible comic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin. That story needs to be turned into a movie one day! But, right now, I’ll enjoy what they are currently doing with the franchise! It’s a ton of fun!

The sequel will be produced by Point Grey Pictures and Rowe will return to direct it. As for the series, Chris Yost (Secret Headquarters, The Mandalorian, Thor: Ragnarok) and Alan Wan (Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles [2012 Series]) will be serving as executive producers and showrunners.

Tales of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be a 2D animated series with two seasons currently in the works. Reprising their roles from the film for the series are Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Nicolas Cantu and Brady Noon as the four Ninja Turtles.
