Terence Winter Returning to Write Sylvester Stallone's TULSA KING Season 2
Terence Winter is returning to write the second season of Sylvester Stallone’s mob drama Tulsa King. Winter serves as the showrunner for the first season, but he will not be the showrunner for Season 2. In fact, creator Taylor Sheridan will not bring in a replacement for Winter and the series will not have a showrunner.
This is in line with the practice at the other Sheridan series produced by 101 Studios which don’t have a traditional showrunner. Instead, Tulsa King has hired a director/executive producer whose deal is still being finalized. Winter exited the showrunner position over creative differences that he had with Sheridan. Winter will also serve as executive producer on Season 2.
Stallone plays New York mafia capo Dwight “The General” Manfredi in the series, and the story follows the mobster who is forced to relocate to the most unlikely of places—Tulsa, Oklahoma, after spending 25 years in prison after being unceremoniously exiled by his boss. The series is set in present day, and the mobster is faced with the startling task of reestablishing his Italian mafia family in the modernized, straight-shooting town of Tulsa. There, Sal encounters surprising and unsuspecting characters who follow him along his unconventional path to power.
Winter is also working on a few other projects including Midge and A Murder in Hollywood. He also was a co-writer on the the recently released film, Bob Marley: One Love.
