Tessa Thompson Is Officially MCU's First LGBTQ Hero as She Looks for a Queen in THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER
This weekend Marvel announced the new Thor movie, which is called Thor: Love and Thunder, and it will take Thor and Valkyrie on a whole new adventurous journey. The movie will feature Natalie Portman reprising her role as Jane Foster as the new female Thor! It will also follow Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie, who, as King of Asgard, will be going on a hunt for her Queen.
Yes, as a lot of fans expected, Valkyrie is officially the MCU’s first LGBTQ hero. When talking about her character during the panel, Thompson said:
“As new king, she needs to find her queen. That will be her first order of business. She has some ideas. Keep you posted.”
Later on, io9 caught up with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige to get confirmation regarding this little tease from Thompson and he said:
“The answer is yes. How that impacts the story remains to be seen with that level of representation you’ll see across our films, not in just Thor 4.”
Chris Hemsworth will once again return for the film as well as Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi.
Thor: Love and Thunder will hit theaters on November 5th, 2021.
